Horizon Homecare staff

TO FIND OUT MORE ABOUT HORIZON’S HOME AND LIVE-IN CARE SERVICES, PLEASE CONTACT US TODAY.

All our care staff have gone through a process of interviews and both written and verbal reference checks and we carry out a Disclosure and Barring Service (DBS) check which includes a police check on each staff member before we make a recruitment decision.

Once we have received satisfactory checks, our carers will go through a training period. This will involve training in moving and handling of people, assistance with medication, health and safety, first aid awareness together with an induction period where staff will be made familiar with our company policies and procedures.

All carers undergo refresher courses as changing legislation and new procedures and techniques update and vary and we encourage all our staff to undertake a health and social care diploma.

Some of our care staff have a vast amount of experience within the industry and some have nursing skills. Together as a team we are able to offer a truly professional friendly service to cater for our clients’ needs.

We are constantly monitored and assessed by the Care Quality Commission to ensure that we are maintaining our legal requirements for care provision and we consistently seek to achieve the highest standards in our inspections.

Horizon Homecare prides itself in offering a very robust domiciliary care service to our clients. During the COVID-19 pandemic, like many providers in the sector, our regular staffing resources were significantly stretched due to staff absence as a consequence of the mandatory requirements for self-isolation. During this very challenging time, we worked tirelessly to continue provide round-the-clock care services to our clients. Our service was inevitably impacted by the consequences of COVID-19 alongside the widely publicised care staff recruitment crisis. Despite this, our client’s needs were and are of the utmost priority to us and we continue to work hard to ensure our clients’ needs are met safely.

We recognise that the most recent CQC inspection has concluded that there are areas for improvement within the service and found that, in some cases, our expected standards had not been met historically. We are continuing to work tirelessly as a service to ensure that robust and prompt improvements have been implemented within the service to ensure that Horizon Homecare is operating in compliance with the Regulations and that our clients are safe. Many of those improvements have already been implemented and our work alongside CQC and our local authority colleagues continues to ensure that the implementation of the improvements are effective.
